Still life - Asian Pear and Skull Cloth

8"x 10" oil on canvas

I had a smaller companion piece, but disposed of it after painfully reworking it to no satisfaction too many times  That's frustrating, but there's a time to let it go. When I was younger I had the issue of starting too many things (though energetic and enthusiastic about various works) I couldn't or didn't finish. I now prefer to see work resolved if there is any way it can be done. Sometimes it can't, or I can't.

Upload in a day or two on a dreamscape for a young child.

Still life - Apple

Apple-oil on canvas 6"x 6"

I've been working on various dreamscape projects too. Unfortunately one of them crashed and burned last night after wrapping up the still life. I still may try to resurrect it, but I have to keep in mind where my energy goes.

Reorganized my website jeannehospod.com  (note: this site is for lap/desktop viewing-not my smartphone/tablet site  m.jeannehospod.com )

The site should be loading faster and easier to navigate through, with better viewing options. Purdier design/colors, too, at least I think so. Any feedback in the comment section would be appreciated.

Small detailed work can be seen up close , like this mini  mini multiple grouping from some years back -(there's a few scattered explicit images so NSFW/18yrs+ viewing..yadda ) or this one. I've been thinking about revisiting the idea of many multiple stream of consciousness style works that resonate with each other and reveal a story as they are created. Instead of putting it all  in one piece, I'd make a larger body of work for a future show. It may be a way to unify a lot of overwhelming ideas into a single attainable goal, and a guide for working over the next year or so.

self portrait branches and ball

Sorry for the delay, I've been overwhelmed with moving. I'm flying out to Virginia tomorrow to live with my sister, and try to make a go with my painting there. Wish me well.

The painting is approximately (I forgot to measure before I left it with my sister in law to dry for shipping)12"x24". Oil on canvas

Self Portrait -horizontal format in progress

This is self portrait painting in progress, oil paint on canvas.
Late night/early morning session before final leg of San Antonio gig this week. Oil on canvas--I don't have access to it right this moment, but I think it is around 12"x24" There is more to be done but I want to keep the energy and high color as I refine it. (later this week or weekend) I will be wrapping up lots of larger paintings while trying to keep a steady flow of smaller newer work until my moving date.

portrait of Skye (in progress) April 22nd

Here is my latest potrait session with Skye, my 9yr old niece. The light is dramatic but difficult. The light beam towards sunset changes rapidly over her body and the "sweet spot" of opportunity to capture her is too long (for her...the sun burns) and way too soon (for me -I'd like more time)-. I have one, maybee two more opportunities left before it is impossible to continue it any more (she and her mom are moving to a new apartment next week.)

outdoor on scene tree painting in progress

I'm back to working on a painting directly from life on scene I started before everything started getting extreme on the family/home front. At that time & after all I could concentrate on was the making of my minis for the holiday season. Tonight and tomorrow are fairly warm so I needed to take advantage or lose my shot till spring. I hope to finish it tomorrow night. Hope. approximately 2x3 feet, alkyds (a type of oil paint) on wood panel.

fertility piece

I did this as a sort of fertility piece a while back for a friend trying to conceive. It worked, or perhaps she just happened to have success at the same time she received it. (The kid turned out to be an awesome little artist btw.) I had taken it back for some touch up/repairs. (I used to use gold oil stick for metallic touches but it turns a muddy brown after a few years. I retouched with gold oil paint this time. And a little black here and there.) oil paint on 12" round wood panel
