night painting on site --tree and sky in progress
I started a nightscape featuring a big tree lit up by the apartment lights right outside my door.
First Step:
First Step:
the vine charcoal general mapping of shapes. When I put the first wash of oil down, I completely lose the marks.
Second Step:I covered the surface with burnt umber and start to pull out the most extreme areas with a "paint eraser" (a rubber chisel type thing) and rag. I went into the warmer areas (like the sky) with burnt sienna. Next session will go full on in with color and battle it out. Approx. 2'x3' oil on wood panel

tweaking some still lifes
I found some almost complete still lives I've worked on not too long ago that I gave up on for some reason. Having nothing to lose, I have been playing with some glazing and minor reworking to see if I can resolve them. Here's a pair of them.
I may have the third one done by tonight. If so I will upload & also recent show progress on a portrait I've been working on.

Self portrait in progress--complete
This one is finished, finally!. I'll probably re-shoot it tomorrow when there is brighter sunlight to work with. Until then you can see all the stages (awkward as some of them are) here:
4th session landscape-complete & mini tree study
The other street scene I couldn't finish in time for the light, but I did manage to punch this one up a little more--so it is finished. On to the sunset self portrait--then walk to the gym, work out & chill
The oil painting is 12"x12" and the smaller black and white is 4"x6".

Unfinished business-mini tree studies
I'm finishing up a variety of paintings over the next few days. Here are some tree studies (black and gold acrylic ink on (tiny stretched) canvases. The rectangle is 4"x6" and the square is 2"x2" . I will be working on a portrait again tonight, then the landscapes tomorrow.
